We develop biomedical imaging and instrumentation to address unmet needs in global public health, with a primary focus on ultrasound imaging
Our research integrates artificial intelligence, instrumentation development, and human-centered design to enable accessible, low-cost ultrasound technologies. Key themes include:
- AI- and machine learning鈥揵ased image analysis and user guidance
- Ultrasound instrumentation and sensing
- Human-centered design and innovation for global and clinical health applications
To achieve these multidisciplinary goals, we collaborate closely with investigators across Boston College, including the聽Connell School of Nursing, Department of Computer Science, , and the Global Public Health and the Common Good Program, as well as clinical collaborators at聽Brigham and Women鈥檚 Hospital / Harvard Medical School, Jimma University Medical Center (Ethiopia), and other collaborators.
Research
Our research spans multiple disciplines, with a central focus on advancing the capabilities and usability of ultrasound and related biomedical imaging and instrumentation technologies.
Teaching
Prof. Ranger teaches first-year engineering analysis laboratories, a second-year engineering foundations course focused on electrical engineering topics, a reflection seminar, and a biomedical imaging elective in the Human-Centered Engineering program.
